Ketchup

Even though it's only been five days since my last post there has been a lot of stuff going on.

First the knitting. My sockapalooza pal received her socks last week safe and sound and they fit perfectly! I was so nervous the entire time that they wouldn't fit properly and she would have to work miracles to them or something like that. But apparently I am a genius sock-knitter and can knit socks for feet that are not present! Woo-hoo! So glad you liked them, Deb ! My socks have not arrived yet, but I have faith they will be here soon.

Next, the big family news. For those of you have been reading my blog for a while, you might remember that a few months back I announced my sisters engagement and posted some pics of potential wedding and bridesmaid dresses. What I didn't announce was last month they decided to postpone the wedding until spring for financial reasons. Then, two weeks ago she decided to join the Army Reserves. She leaves for boot camp on Wednesday, Aug 15. This past Monday I got a phone call from my sister asking what I was doing on Saturday. "Nothing," I replied. "Good," she said, "because I have some plans for you." Turns out that this is what she had planned.

It was a beautiful wedding and you never would have been able to tell we threw it together in four days. We had a flower girl, a ring bearer, matching dresses, a cake, a church, the works. Heather looked absolutely beautiful in her dress and Chad was just as handsome in his tux. We even had time to throw together a bachelorette party. It just so happened that the Chippendales were in town the night before the wedding so my mom, the other bridesmaid, and my other sister all took her out for a "Last Night Out". Of course, me being so crafty had to make these shirts for the wedding party. Iron-on letters from Jo Ann's. They were even on clearance!

It was such a great weekend. I'm just so sad to see her go on Wednesday. She won't be back until January 10th-ish. Good luck Heather!

Hi,

I have finished your socks and hope that they will fit you. Unfortunately I haven't been able to send yet them to you, I will do that as soon as I can (it's gonna be in the start of September). I hope you'll forgive me and hope you'll like them!

Looks like they had a wonderful wedding. How nice!

The fact that she was able to throw together a wedding like that and it not look shoddy proves that we make too much a deal out of all the wedding stuff. Marriage: important. Wedding: a novelty. Congrats to them!

I love your socks!

Are you able to put skids on the bottom of your socks. I am very accident prone and have to have the safety factor on all my socks cause we have wooden floor in the dining room.

Congrats on being the FB on SITS!

Yay for your sis! My DH and I went from "Hey, we should get married on 8/8/08" to "Hey we're married!" in 4 days. I didn't even attempt any of the trappings, and barely managed to get a wedding certificate and get to the JP before he closed.

You guys did a great job! Love the shirts!

My brother just went to a chapel in TN and let them do all the work. It was wonderful though plus we got a mini-vaca out of it. Hope she does well in the reserves.

Sometimes these spur-of-the-moment things can be way more fun and way less stressful that overplanned events. Congrats to your sister on her wedding and her military service.

I seriously think everyone should have to plan their wedding in only four days. It can be done, obviously. It saves on expenses, it prevents people for stressing for months, and keeps you from having to tolerate months of bridezillas. People will be just as happy to attend if you spent four days or four years planning.

Hubs and I got married in Vegas...since we were paying for it ourselves, it was either a big fairy-tale wedding, or a place to live. We chose shelter. :) Chance is gorgeous by the way, that big blockhead of his.

I'm always amazed by what you can do quickly to make a nice wedding vs all the agonizing and stress people have over wedding planned for so long. It looks like a beautiful ceremony, and I wish her and her husband all the happiness in the world!

Four days! Wow that's awesome. I wish I had done that. I'm not good at all that planning stuff.

Wow, getting ready for a wedding in four days -- amazing! More couples should probably do it that way instead of dragging it out and making it a stressful, all-consuming event.
