SP 10 Questionnaire

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I am currently LOVING sproingy, squishy basic fibers like merino and such. I am not such a big fan of furry yarns like mohair or angora, but I love alpaca. Oh yeah, no acrylic please :)

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
I have a two hand-made needle rolls, one for my straights, one for my dpns, and my circs are just kept in their plastic baggies.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I've been knitting for about three years. I taught myself using a "teach yourself to knit" kit I got at a craft store with cheapo acrylic yarn. I consider myself to be intermediate. I've made a couple of sweaters and know the basics of lace knitting, but have never ventured into the hard core colorwork stuff.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Not currently, but can create one if needed.

5. What's your favorite scent?
I love, love, love citrus smells. I find them energizing and invigorating. I also love the comfy, homey smells like pumpkin pie and cinnamon apple.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
Major sweet tooth. I'd have to say my favorite candy is probably skittles, but I love just about everything.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
I haven't tried spinning yet, but would like to give it a whirl (ha ha). I also quilt, scrapbook, and do a little bit of beading.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I love all music, but if I have to be specific I'd say my two favorite genres are country and reggae (I know, opposite ends of the spectrum) Yes, I can listen to mp3s.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?
I am currently loving yellows and oranges, but I like to experiment with color. I am a participant of Project Spectrum 2.0, so I will be following those color guidelines as much as I can. I can't really like of any colors I don't like.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
No kids yet, been married for a little over a year. I have two giant loving doggies.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
Yes, yes, yes, and not anymore. I have a couple of ponchos from when I first started knitting, but I haven't worn them in a long time.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
I love socks, and that is usually my standby, but I'm also venturing out. I'd say I really like experimenting with classic style sweaters.

13. What are you knitting right now?
I am currently working on a baby hat, some leftover Christmas projects, and my Central Park Hoodie.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
Yes!

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
I switch around a lot between straight and circular, it depends on the project and if I intend on traveling with it. I use my circulars a lot more unless I'm making a scarf, then it's straights all the way. I never use plastic needles, can't stand them. I really really love wooden needles. Every once in a while I crave the slick addi turbos that everyone loves, but for the most part I love my basic bamboo and birch. I've never tried rosewood though, I hear it's divine.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?
Yes, both thanks to my darling husband.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?
It celebrated it's 10th birthday this year. It's a black crochet afghan from high school. My longest knit UFO is probably "Jesse's Flames" sweater that I'm making for my husband-its been lingering in the basket for about 2 years.

18. What is your favorite holiday?
Probably Thanksgiving, but I love summer picnics and barbeques too, so maybe the Fourth of July is a close second.

19. Is there anything that you collect?
I collect shot glasses, but currently don't have anywhere to display them.
20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I currently don't subscribe to any magazines, but I love Interweave Knits. I've been trying to find a place that sells Rebecca, but no one around here seems to have it. I'm just curious what that magazine looks like, never seen it. I would like to try a simple stranded colorwork project, like maybe a hat kit. I'm also looking for a simple sweater pattern to use a beautiful purple Manos del Uruguay yarn I purchased recently. That's about all that's currently on my wish list, but I'm always seeing something that I'm dying to try next.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?
As I mentioned earlier, I'd really like to try a stranded colorwork project. I think a hat might be a good beginner project. I was going to try mittens, but I don't know if that's a good first project.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
I am a sock knitter, and I'm a size 6 1/2 women's. I don't know my exact foot measurments but could provide them if needed.

23. When is your birthday? Nov 15

Interesting . . . I also collect shot glasses I have about 60 of them. My DH put up a small shelf around the top of one of my walls in the kitchen to display them :)
